A Simple Beginner’s Guide to Crochet’s Magic Circle

Is everything in crochet magic? The magic circle (sometimes called the magic ring or the magic loop) certainly is! This special stitch creates an adjustable loop that you would use when starting a circular or round project, such as a doily, a hat, or a ball. It allows you to tightly close the hole that will exist when beginning your circle. This is especially useful when creating a stuffed animal, for example, with amigurumi.

The magic circle is a stitch that you will use over and over again. It’s worth spending some time practicing it, so that you become proficient and confident in its’ execution. Watch our video below for a step-by-step tutorial.
