26 Dec How to Create a Paper Sloyd Folding Card Case
You’re going to love our next paper sloyd project! Project #10 from the 2nd year from the book, Paper Sloyd for Primary Grades by Ednah Anne Rich is a folding card case. It’s fairly simple and quick to make, so please join us as we make it together! You will find the video further down this post.
We talked previously about how sloyd is not all about having a practical purpose, in our post, What is Sloyd? And Why is it a Valuable Tool in Home Education? Incorporating sloyd into our children’s home education is about learning and developing practical skills and abilities. But I can’t help wanting our sloyd projects to have a practical use. Our last few paper sloyd projects were a little useless in this century – although I imagine that they were very useful in 1905 when the book was written. I’m excited to say that project #10 from the 2nd year definitively has a practical purpose – or two!
Materials Needed:
- A cutting mat
- An Exacto knife
- A pencil
- A ruler
- Glue
- Decorative paper or cardstock (we used a 12″ x 12″ piece of thick scrapbook paper)
