02 Jan How to Create a Paper Sloyd Traditional Envelope
Today we will be creating a paper sloyd traditional envelope. This project is number 10 from the 2nd year from the book, Paper Sloyd for Primary Grades by Ednah Anne Rich. If you’ve been following along with us, making the models as we go, you will remember that we made an envelope as our very first paper sloyd project. Unlike the first, much simpler model, this model uses many of the skills that we have since developed, such as measuring and cutting accurately with an Exacto knife. The result is a beautiful and useful creation.
Materials Needed:
- A cutting mat
- An Exacto knife
- A pencil
- A ruler
- Glue
- A piece of cardstock or high quality paper, measuring at least 7″ x 10½”, we used a 12″ x 12″ scrapbook paper
Happy Handicrafts Video: How to Create a Paper Sloyd Traditional Envelope
Our videos are created with homeschoolers in mind. We’ve homeschooled since the beginning and one thing we’ve noticed about homeschooling moms is that they do not always feel confident in teaching handicrafts or other useful arts and crafts. They may not feel “crafty,” or are not creative sorts. That’s where we come in – we’re crafty so you don’t have to be! Just send your students our way and we will walk them through the paper sloyd models, step by step, no matter what age.
Did you enjoy the project? It has me thinking that I will have to make these beautiful envelopes every time I mail a letter now! It’s a lovely way to add a personal and thoughtful touch.
