The single crochet stitch is the first and most basic of the crochet stitches. It is a square-shaped stitch that can be worked into almost any shape. It’s also the stitch to use when you want a tighter, denser fabric that will hold it’s shape.
Have You Heard of Amigurumi?
You may have heard of “amigurumi?” Amigurumi is an excellent example of the single crochet stitch. It is a Japanese art form of crocheting, used to create small, cute toys or objects, which are really cute and fun to make. We’ll be sure to include at least one amigurumi project in our Crochet handicraft series.
