23 Nov How to Make a Crocheted Scarf WITHOUT a PATTERN!
Are you ready to start your very first crocheted project? I am going to show you how to make a crocheted scarf – any size you like – without a pattern. We are going to use the skills that we’ve been practicing from our crochet series on Happy Handicrafts, along with a few bonus skills to put together this delightfully warm and cozy scarf. You’re going to love making this because, it’s a simple project to start with and it works up very quickly.
Materials Needed
- Crochet Hook Set
- Bernat Blanket Tweed Yarn x 2 skeins (I’m giving a link here, but I would not suggest buying this yarn on Amazon. It is half the price at your local craft store. I found mine at Joann’s.)
- Scissors
I chose to make my scarf quite large in width and in length. I don’t like to wear hats, so this is serving as both a hat and a scarf, as I like to wind it around my head and neck to be cozy. It’s important for you to consider what you would like, and to size accordingly. This scarf can be made any width and any length – it’s all up to you!
I should also mention that this yarn may not be the easiest to work with for a beginner. When a yarn is super fluffy, it’s sometimes difficult to see each strand. This can complicate things for beginners. If you are a beginner, you may want to choose a less fluffy yarn until you are proficient at recognizing each stitch. Any yarn will work for this scarf, just be sure to follow the instructions in the video for how to adjust for different weights of yarn and sizes of hooks.
We are loving this crocheted scarf, and I hope you do too!
