30 Jul How to Make a Needle-Felted Sheep (Part 2 of 2)
Today we are going to be completing our needle-felted sheep that we started in our last post. Having completed the armature, we are going to move on to the application of the wool, filling out the sheep’s head and body.
This handicraft continues to bring us joy, and I’m afraid it’s going to be very hard to move on to our next handicraft, as we’ve enjoyed this one so much. With our enjoyment comes the desire to continue to learn and develop skill. And I hope you experience this desire as well. Handicrafts are not just a skill to learn for our homeschooling curriculum and then we move on and never revisit it again. Handicrafts are learned so that they can bring us joy and enrich our lives, so I genuinely hope that even once you have finished a handicraft series at Happy Handicrafts, that you continue on, learning, growing, and developing your skill in that area.

This was definitely one of our more challenging projects, but that didn’t damper our enjoyment of it. From creating the armature, to adding the thick curly wool, each new skill was fun to learn. It is so rewarding to watch our sweet little sheep go from this:
To this;
One of the fun things about needle-felting is that every single creation is unique. Each part of the face creates a different expression, which brings out a character and attitude. You can use a thick coat of curly wool, or a minimal amount, again creating a completely different sheep. I’m thinking of making a nativity scene – what are you planning on doing with yours?
