When starting to learn a new handicraft such as crochet, every newbie is going to need to learn a new set of skills. In crochet, two of these essential skills are how to make a slip knot and chain. These are two very simple skills but they are also skills that are needed for almost every crochet project. So before we get into our first project, we are going to learn a couple essential skills.

Now yes. Learning skills (including crochet stitches) without associating them with an actual project can be boring and annoying. It’s something that we try to avoid when teaching handicrafts. However, there are some handicrafts that do require a little knowledge to start, and crochet is one of them! So let’s get it done!
