08 Nov How to Make Fabulous Cards with your Kids
I’ve officially now seen a wedding invitation on Facebook.
Is this what the world is coming to? I know I’m getting older and sometimes I don’t get the younger generation, but this was a bit much.
So much of our communication is done by text and social media. I can’t even deny that I’m a part of this. It’s so much easier to have a conversation via text at my leisure (meaning when the kids aren’t being hoodlums) than hiding in the bathroom with my phone while they pound on the door. Who chats for hours on the phone anymore? Who writes letters anymore? Does anyone send cards to loved ones to mark a special occasion?
In this day and age of technology and social media, receiving a personalized note or card in the mail is something special. It’s a way of showing the recipient that you are truly thinking of them, that you care about them. A lot! It means you have gone to the trouble of buying a card, writing a heart-felt note, buying stamps, then going to the post office to mail the card. That’s serious commitment right there. At least it is for me!
This week, we decided to not only send out some cards by snail mail but to actually make some fabulous cards to send out. We started with Luci’s choice of some simple, fun popup birthday cards for the grandparents. For a step by step guide, visit My Joy-Filled Life, where we blogged about how to make fabulous cards with your kids it in detail.
A Beautiful Bouquet Popup Card
Then we tried some more difficult cards. Clark chose a beautiful bouquet popup card, which had me sweating until we found a YouTube video, which made it much easier! While I had need to do some of the measuring and cutting, Clark tackled the coloring and did a beautiful job! Don’t you love how bright and fresh these look?
Sit down with your kids and make some cards for the ones you love! We’d love to see them, too! Take a picture and show us your cards on our Facebook page!
