29 Nov Learning The Letter A With An Apple Tree Craft
Here’s a super simple craft for your young ones. It’s a great way to help learn the Letter A, as well as the differences between a capital or lower case Letter A. It’s a little labor-intensive with the scissors, but very doable. We have been reading the book, How to Bake an Apple Pie and See the World, and this little craft made for an enjoyable afternoon together. Or actually it took a couple of afternoons, because it’s no easy to cut out all those apples!
We found these cute apples to cut out at Confessions of a Homeschooler. They just happened to be the perfect size for our apple trees. Once the apples were cut out, we traced our hands and forearms to make the tree branches and trunk on a piece of brown construction paper. The kids love doing this.
I had Clark and Luci cut out the tree trunk and branches while I drew them the big leafy part of the tree, which they in turn cut out. They then glued the branches and trunk part of the tree on top of the leaves.
We finished out project by gluing all of the apples onto the tree (Luci included one that had fallen on the ground) and putting them up for display. I love seeing their little hand shapes displayed.
