Love Bug Essential Oil Diffusers

Happy Valentine’s Day, Friends!

For some random reason this year, my children have become obsessed with Valentine’s Day. For weeks now, they’ve been asking me, “When is it Valentine’s Day, Mommy? When is it Valentine’s Day?” They never mentioned a reason for asking, but I started to think that maybe I needed to step up my game a little to meet their expectations. This usually involves crafting, so we decided to make some Love Bug Essential Oil Diffusers for ourselves and our friends.

Our Love Bug Essential Oil Diffusers are super simple, made with some clothing pins and pom-poms. I found some wide clothing pins at the Target Dollar Spot. They were labelled with “To” and “From,” so it seemed logical that we could make them into some cute little gifts to share on Valentine’s Day.

Supplies You Will Need:

All you’ll need is a few clothing pins, gluepom poms of different sizes, pipe cleaners and eye balls. Honestly, we didn’t even have the eye balls, so I used the trash from my 3 hole punch and they drew an eye ball (big black dot) on it. You get creative when you want to be.

Here’s How to Make the Love Bugs

These little Love Bugs are so easy to make that they don’t really require instruction.  But for you severely craft-challenged folks, who are otherwise gifted, here’s the low-down.

Slather glue along one of the edges of the clothing pin. Then position your pom-poms along the glue, placing the largest pom-pom on the end of the clothing pin that opens when squeezed. This is going to be the head. We gave the Love Bug a little time to dry between each step. Otherwise it wouldn’t hold together very well.

Next glue on your eye balls (or whatever you choose to use as eyes). Once they’re dried, add the antennae. This is optional, of course, but Clark and Luci insisted on it for each Love Bug. It does add another level of cuteness, I think. Our antennae are made out of pipe cleaners, which we bent and folded into their shape.

Once your little Love Bug is completely dry (we let ours dry overnight), you can apply a drop or two of Young Living Essential Oil to each pom pom. The scent will naturally dissipate throughout the room and provide you with the wonderful benefits of essential oils.

Clip Them Anywhere!

Clip your little Love Bug essential oil diffusers anywhere you like! We like to clip ours onto the vent in the car, allowing a calm, harmonizing scent to fill the vehicle. You may want to clip it to your child’s backpack or book with an essential oil that can help them with focus. One may need to go into your child’s gym bag with a purifying scent. My children like to clip it to their lamps at night with a few drops of Lavender essential oil. The choices are endless!
