Our Visit to the Young Living Lavender Farm

Our Visit to the Young Living Lavender Farm

In the summer of 2016, our family took a road trip to Utah to attend Young Living’s International Grand Convention. We love road trips, but this one was extra-special as we were planning a stop at the Young Living Lavender Farm in Mona, Utah. As a family, we had been using Young Living essential oils for a couple of years, and it is not an exaggeration to say that we had fallen in love with them. So, our visit to the Young Living Lavender Farm was an experience that I’d been really looking forward to with an enormous amount of excitement!

First Impressions

My first impression of the Young Living Lavender Farm was one of awe. We had been travelling through the south of Utah, exploring its’ National Parks. The dusty, rugged terrain had been beautiful and fun to explore but it now stood in harsh contrast to the lush green grass, meticulously landscaped gardens and lavender-lined walkways of this peaceful farm. Large trees provided shade from the hot sun and a refreshing stream flowed through the center of the property to a pond. As we walked, whiffs of lavender drifted by our noses, bringing with it the feeling of intense relaxation and bliss.

There were many visitors at the farm, yet there was a quietness about the place that brought a sense of peace. Despite the quiet, however, it was clear that this was a working farm. Although open to the public, this farm was still doing business as usual. Outside the distillery, we watched a large machine grinding juniper branches into mulch to be distilled. Inside the distillery, the cookers were distilling juniper and blue yarrow.

The Barns

I couldn’t keep the children away from the Show Barn and the Friesian Barn. They love animals and had never been this close to horses before. They were in awe of these magnificent animals, and were especially excited to be able to pet them. Clark was sure the white one was a unicorn who had lost his horn – so please keep an eye out for a lost unicorn horn!

The Distillery

By the time we finally made it to the farm, we had been using Young Living products for a couple of years and had been so impressed with the quality of their products. What initially drew us to Young Living was the Seed to Seal process, which guarantees us a “pristine final product without compromise.” Our visit to the Young Living Lavender Farm gave us the opportunity to participate in and experience this process first hand. I don’t know of any other essential oil company that operates with such transparency and integrity. This tour gave us an even greater trust in Young Living as a company.

Laid out in front of the distillery was a massive mount of juniper.  Its’ earthy, woodsy scent filled the air. I found it intensely calming and relaxing. My children, on the other hand, did not share my appreciation for the smell.

Having read a little of the distillation process, seeing it in person was fascinating. Young Living uses a combination of ancient and modern techniques to distill their essential oils, ensuring the highest possible therapeutic components. It was easy to see why Young Living is recognized as an innovator in essential oil distillation.

Lunch

The hospitality we experienced was incredible. Despite hosting a large number of people that day, Young Living was looking out for our comforts at every turn. We especially appreciated the big bins of complimentary ice cold water.

Lunch was delicious! SO GOOD! It was so refreshing to go out and to be able to offer my family real food without processed garbage. Even my husband, who is on a fairly restrictive diet, thoroughly enjoyed the food.

Planting Seedlings

How cool is it to be able to participate in the Seed to Seal process that sets Young Living apart from all of the other essential oil companies! We got to plant yarrow seedlings. Even Clark and Luci got in on the action. We are not gardeners, so this was a fun and novel experience for the children. And what a great way to instill a sense of ownership!  Maybe next time we use yarrow essential oil, it will be from this very crop!

The Fields

The fields feel like the heart and soul of Young Living. They appear to spread all the way to the mountains that surround the farm. These fields are not fake showcases. They are dusty, dirty and you will even see some weeds. At the same time they are fragrant and vibrant, showing how incredible love and care, along with the highest standards of cultivation creates the best essential oils on the planet. We walked through fields of goldenrod and clary sage. We wandered down the rows, smelling the incredible aromas.

Unexpectedly, our visit to the Young Living Lavender Farm was actually a very emotional experience for me. Several times throughout our visit, I had to hold back tears of gratitude for what Young Living has done for me and my family. Experiencing the commitment to purity and quality brought an incredible wave of gratitude, pride and exhilaration.

Relaxing by the Stream

The sun was especially hot and we were starting to feel the effects, so while everyone else headed to the Jousting Arena, we found a little spot of heaven by the cool stream. The shade, the breeze and the cool grass made it the perfect spot to relax and refresh. This turned out to be the children’s most favorite moment of all. They took off their socks and shoes and stuck their toes in the running water.

One of my favorite things about Young Living is the people. I love, love, love Young Living people. They always have a heart to serve and bless others. One such lady had brought bubbles for the kids. She handed them to Clark and Luci and showed them how to use them in the breeze. They ran around, squealing in joy, popping the bubbles. I just wanted to close my eyes and inhale the moment.

A Refreshing Snack

We finished our visit with a stop at the “Wolfberry Creek Café.” I wanted to order one of everything off of the menu, but we settled for lavender ice cream for Luci and peppermint ice cream for Clark. This must be the most refreshing ice cream I have ever tasted! I was thirsty, so I got a NingXia Red Slushie and a NingXia Zyng, which is now my new favorite drink.

It was the perfect way to end our day.

I am so grateful for the opportunity to introduce my family to the real Young Living. I wanted them to experience the company from the inside, to truly feel it.

Now-a-days, it can be hard to genuinely trust a certain company. We are surrounded by corporate greed and questionable ethics on a daily basis. Our visit to the Young Living Lavender Farm gave us a very different perspective. There are still people who care, there are still companies who value people over profits. Thank-you Young Living for being one of these. Thank-you for your hospitality, your generosity and for your life-changing products. We are forever and truly grateful.
