There are many things to know about homeschooling, but one of my favorite things is that it allows us to provide our children with a more personalized education. Having the ability to accommodate our children's different learning styles and interests while homeschooling can unlock creativity and innovation. These traits are extremely important because they are essential skills for success in today's rapidly changing world. Creativity is the ability to generate new ideas and concepts, while innovation is the ability to turn those ideas into reality and bring about positive change. Today's businesses and organizations are constantly looking for...

Years ago, when I decided to start homeschooling my children, I didn't have many friends or acquaintances who homeschooled. I couldn't pick the brains of other homeschooling moms, and I never had the opportunity to sit down with a cup of coffee to drill them with my endless list of questions. Despite this, we have somehow managed to navigate the elementary, and now pre-teen years of homeschooling with any massive regrets. Homeschooling has been an incredible blessing to our family. That being said, however, it hasn't always been easy. I've made many mistakes along the...

Homeschooling is not an easy task. If you are a working parent, it's even harder. Finding a balance that works for your family can be a challenge. I know - I'm there in the trenches with you! I've been homeschooling my children from the beginning and we are now entering the high school years. I've also been a full-time night shift nurse for almost 30 years. I was determined that my need to work was not going to stop me from homeschooling. Where there's a will, there's a way. Through the years,...

When I started homeschooling, almost a decade ago, I had not thought out the entire process. There were a few reasons that I was initially thinking to experiment for a year or two. My plan was just to "see how things go." I certainly had not thought beyond the elementary grades! Middle school and high school were a distant vague worry. But now, as we move into these upper grades, I am finding that worry was unfounded. I am finding as much joy and enjoyment as I did with the elementary grades. Here...

It's been kind of crazy lately, hasn't it? With all of the changes and challenges we've had recently, I've been wanting to reach out to you, the hesitant, unprepared, or reluctant Homeschooling Mom. Maybe you were forced into homeschooling by the pandemic, maybe you've chosen homeschooling for other reasons, believing it to be the best choice for their families. I'm talking to you today. One of the best things I've seen emerge from this time of stress and uncertainty is a massive, brave, emerging group of proactive parents that are turning to homeschooling. In the past few...

When it comes to opinions about homeschooling, I think I've probably come a long way in a short time.  Less than one year ago, I was just like the majority of tax-paying parents. My (small-minded) thought was that homeschoolers were either crazy, "crunchy" hippies, and or religious fanatics. I could not understand why someone would choose to homeschool when you were paying school taxes - especially when you live in a top-rated school district.  So what changed? What made us decide to homeschool? I Was Starting to Get Worried With approximately one year until my first child started Kindergarten,...
