21 Oct The Cutest Little Spider Webs for Halloween Decor
Fall is here, and it’s time to break out the Halloween decorations! It’s time to get your home ready for all the ghosts and goblins that will be coming your way! Halloween has always been one of my children’s favorite celebrations – not for what it stands for, mainly because it comes with free candy and the opportunity to dress up. So every year, we do seasonal crafts and decorate the house. One of our favorite ways to decorate for Halloween is to make a million little spider webs. They are fun, and an easy way to spruce up your space without getting too gruesome or scary. Today, we will show you how we make them, and if you prefer a video format, just scroll to the bottom of this post.
Materials You Will Need:
- Paper, we use origami paper because it is thin and easier to work with
- Scissors
- Pencil (Optional)
- String, Yarn or Tape to display
Step 1
Start with a perfect square. The size isn’t important. If you start with a small square, you will end up with a small spider web, which is what we typically do. If you want a larger spider web, simply start with a larger square. Begin by folding the square from one corner to the opposite corner, creating an isosceles triangle.
Step 2
In the next step, fold the longer side of the triangle in half, meeting both corners neatly.
Step 3
Once again, fold the longest side of the triangle in half, meeting the two corners neatly.
Step 4
In the final fold, you will fold the corner that is opposite the longest side down, as shown in the image below. If you have any difficulty following along (because describing folds is a bit of a challenge!), refer to our video at the end of this post.
Step 5
In the 5th step, draw the design shown in the image below.
Step 6
Almost done! Cut along the drawn lines.
Step 7
This is the fun part, where you get to unfold the paper to reveal the spider web!
Now let’s see how many you can make! You can make dozens of little spider webs to hang from windows, your fireplace, or the banister for Halloween. You could even give them out with candy on Halloween!
