26 Aug The Difference 30 Minutes Can Make
Earlier this month, I attended Young Living’s International Grand Convention in Dallas. Young Living is an essential oil company, so logically I expected to learn a lot about essential oils, maybe some information about the company and how to lead a successful team in Network Marketing. I did not expect to be inspired and motivated to live a better life! I did not expect to be driven to turn the spotlight inward, exposing some long-hidden truths.
Superficially, I would claim my life is wonderful. With a loving husband, happy children, a career and big dreams, I feel that I have achieved contentment and balance in my life. But sometimes you hear a single sentence that acts like a big raindrop, falling on a quiet pond, disturbing the peaceful surface waters.
A Health Presentation by Dr. Oliver Wenker
This was in a Power Point presentation at the Convention, presented by Dr. Oliver Wenker. I stared at the Power Point, wondering which essential oil could possibly have such far-reaching and incredible results. But he wasn’t talking about essential oils. He wasn’t talking about some miraculous pill. He was talking about WALKING.
REALLY!? Could something so basic, so simple have such dramatic effects?! YES! Even my medical knowledge knows this to be true. It is further described in this quick little video called 23 1/2 Hours:
If I were to choose one area of my life that was NOT in balance, it would be fitness. It’s just one of those areas that has not been at the top of my priority list. So as I sat at the convention, listening to the presentation, I resolved to do better. To get up and be active for 30 minutes out of the 1440 minutes every day. It sounds so little when it’s written down…
So today, while the weather was tolerable, I took Clark and Luci to the park.
These two keep me active at the park – “Push me!” “Catch me!” “Watch Me, Mom!” So we ran and climbed and slid down slides. Then we went for a long walk all around the park to visit the pond, hoping to see some ducks.
We didn’t find any ducks, but we met a TON of turtles! And some friendly kids who wanted to share turtle food! So we fed the turtles until they had had enough!
My 30 minutes turned into 2 hours and we had a blast! The awesome part is, Clark was able to do his homeschool work quickly, with much greater focus than usual, so everything that needed to be done got done!
So who’s up for the challenge? Just 30 minutes a day can change your life. We all have time for 30 minutes…
