Three Favorite, Beautiful 3D Paper Snowflakes for Christmas Decor

Christmas time holds many special traditions for all of us. A favorite of ours is taking the entire month of December off of our homeschool, so that we have ample time to enjoy each and every moment together. We have always done this – ever since starting to homeschool – and it is truly so precious to me. We pick out cookies to bake, pile up baking in the freezer, plan special meals and go shopping together, wrap gifts, and we’ve always decorated the tree and house with handmade crafts. This year, we decided to elevate our gift-wrapping and decor game with beautiful 3D paper snowflakes.

From the time that the children we little, we’ve always made paper snowflakes. We hung them in the windows, on the Christmas tree, and around the house. They bring a fun, joyful spirit into the home, along with childhood memories of snow and winter. But this year, as we were wrapping presents, applying the same store-bought bows made out of ribbon, it occurred to me that we could amp this up a little, while having fun crafting together.

Materials Needed:

  • Papers of different colors and varieties (We used origami paper, construction paper, scrapbook paper)
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • A little bling or stickers

How to Make a 3D Snowflake (or Poinsettia Flower)

Our final 3D paper snowflake came about a little by accident. We were going to make it all white but found that we didn’t have pre-cut white paper. So instead, we chose some Christmas colors and realized that they were the colors of a poinsettia.

Our l 3D paper snowflakes can be used in so many ways. We used them to replace our tired old bows when wrapping gifts. They can also be used to decorate the Christmas tree, or to compliment a garland.

Take time to craft together this Christmas time. Light a fire, brew some hot chocolate, and sit around the table together, enjoying each other’s company, creating something that you love. This is what Christmas is all about.

Lots of love to you all this holiday season,
