A diffuser is the best replacement for candles that you will ever find. I have been obsessed with candles my entire life. So much so, that when I was a child I invented a family Christmas tradition we called “Candlefest.” On Christmas Eve I would light every single candle I owned. I would place them all around my bedroom in a twinkling display. I would then invite all of my siblings to my room. We would hang out, laugh and talk late into the night. We did this every year. Diffusers didn’t even exist back then.

My love for candles continued into my adult life. My home was full of them. I lit them at every opportunity to create a warm, inviting atmosphere. This all came to a stop when I learned about essential oils, and the hazards of burning toxic candles in the home. I can honestly say, I have not lit a candle since! Essential oils in a diffuser smell so much better! They actually benefit the body by providing support to many of the body systems!

What is an Essential Oil Diffuser?

A diffuser is a container which uses ultrasonic technology to break up a mixture of essential oils and water into extremely fine microparticles. These microparticles are so small that they disperse into the air, creating a healthy, natural, and pure living environment. They also provide us with wonderful health benefits.

There are a TON of different diffusers available with many different features, bells and whistles. A couple of things that I look for when buying a diffuser are:

• Does the diffuser have an LED light that turns off?  I don’t always want a light one, especially when I’m sleeping.
• How long does the diffuser run?  I want it to be able to run all day or all night long.
• How large of an area does the diffused molecules cover?
• Does the diffuser have an automatic shut-off when it is out of water and essential oils?
• Is it high quality plastic so that the essential oils will not eat through it over time?
• Is it easy to clean?

Young Living Diffusers

In my experience the Young Living diffusers are the best quality. They are made of quality plastic that does not break down when exposed to the petrochemical-consuming essential oils. They last a long time and are backed by amazing customer service and quality guarantee. Here are a few favorites:

The Aria Ultrasonic Diffuser

The Aria is the Cadillac of Young Living diffusers, and is a unique, stylish way to bring the benefits of essential oils into your home. It features a solid American maple base and remote, glass dome to direct the essential oil vapor, relaxing multicolored LED lights and a selection of soothing, built-in sounds. You can even plug in your own personal music device to enjoy the music of your choice. Because this is a larger diffuser, it is suggested to use 15-25 drops of essential oil. Of course you can use more if you prefer a stronger scent. In general, the more essential oil put in the air, the more therapeutic benefits the user will experience.

This diffuser is approximately 165 mm tall (including the diffusion nozzle). The circumference is approximately 686 mm, and the diameter is approximately 216 mm. It weighs about 5 lbs and diffuses well in an average-sized bedroom (200–300 square feet), depending on the amount of essential oil used. The only noise from the Aria is the slight rippling of the moving water, which can be incredibly relaxing, and soft hum of the internal fan pushing out the essential oil vapor. Wipe down the diffuser after every use with a clean, dry cloth. The glass bowl is dishwasher safe.

The AromaLux™ Atomizing Diffuser

Young Living’s AromaLux™ Atomizing Diffuser is no ordinary diffuser. It functions as an aroma diffuser, air purifier, and atomizer in one simple-to-use product. Its atomizing technology transforms essential oils into a vapor of millions of microparticles. It then disperses them into the air, releasing the powerful plant constituents found in Young Living essential oils. Designed by D. Gary Young and available exclusively through Young Living, the AromaLux incorporates proprietary BioGeometry® design principles, technology and features to simplify and enhance the aromatherapy experience.

The AromaLux utilizes a robust array of settings, including a master timer control off switch with 1–10 hours of diffusion; vapor volume control; diffusion run timer (1–20 minutes); diffusion pause timer (1–20 minutes); and 5 different LED display light settings. It accommodates 5ml and 15ml Young Living essential oil bottles, and can transform any space into an inviting, aroma-filled atmosphere. This type of diffuser is very different to use. It does not use water. To use, you will need to remove the top from the base. Then attach a Young Living essential oils bottle to the atomizer top. Once you have placed the top with the essential oil bottle back into the diffuser base, you can adjust the settings. The Desert Mist Diffuser

Young Living’s Desert Mist Ultrasonic Diffuser is a member favorite. As a bonus, it is actually included in Young Living’s Premium Starter Kit for free! This diffuser functions as a humidifier, atomizer, and aroma diffuser. It is inspired by the design of a stylish Moroccan trellis, and brings a modern look to any space.

Using ultrasonic frequency technology, the Desert Mist Diffuser generates waves at 1.7 million per second. These waves break down essential oils and water into millions of microparticles. They are then dispersed into the air, releasing the oils’ unique constituents. This diffuser is custom designed to diffuse continuously for 5–6 hours on High mode, 8 hours on Low mode, and 10 hours on Intermittent mode. It also offers 11 individual light settings, including a candle-like flicker mode, which is my favorite. Use 8-10 drops of essential oil with this diffuser, depending on your preference. To ensure proper performance, clean the ultrasonic plate and lid after each use with mild soap and water.

The Dino Land and Dolphin Reef Ultrasonic Diffusers

These diffusers are a child’s delight. They have a proprietary, interchangeable diffuser cover system, so the same base can be used for both the Dino Land and the Dolphin Reef (covers are sold separately). Both diffusers act as an atomizer, aroma diffuser, and night-light.

The Young Living’s Dino Land Ultrasonic Diffuser (item # 5332) features color-illuminated vapor “erupting” from a prehistoric volcano, surrounded by menacing T. rex, triceratops, and pterodactyl figures. The Dolphin Reef Ultrasonic Diffuser (item # 5333) features a playful mother dolphin and her calf swimming through color-illuminated vapor released by pink sea sponges.

These diffusers can be run continuously or intermittently (10 minutes on then 10 minutes off) and have an automatic shutoff for safety. Typically 5-8 drops of Young Living essential oil works well for diffusion in a bedroom. There are four white under-panel soft LED lights with on and off settings, and six LED light settings (red, white, green, blue, alternating, and off). The Dino Land diffuser is 26.5 cm x 26.9 cm x 22.7 cm and the Dolphin Reef diffuser is 27.5 cm x 26.6 cm x 24.8 cm.

This sleek travel accessory provides a 30-second stream of essential oil-infused mist with the press of a button.

The Gentle Mist diffuser is portable and compact. It runs for up to 21 cycles on one full 8 ml reservoir using 2-4 drops of your favorite essential oil. Unlike many other portable diffusers, the Gentle Mist diffuser is an ultrasonic diffuser and therefore uses water and will create a mist. It weighs 2.4 oz and is 147 mm x 49 mm x 39 mm. It comes with a refill bottle and a carrying pouch.

Home Diffuser – Dew Drop Design

Young Living’s Dewdrop™ Diffuser is inspired by the purity and elegance of a drop of morning dew. It reflects Young Living’s dedication to providing high-quality essential oils. Like many of the other diffusers, it functions as a humidifier, atomizer, and aroma diffuser. It’s custom design diffuses 5-8 drop of Young Living essential oil for up to four hours of continuous run diffusion. It has an automatic shut-off, and ambient light control.

The Dewdrop diffuser (item # 5330) is approximately 135 mm x 135 mm x 190 mm. This diffuser is also included in the Premium Starter Kit for no extra cost. Rainstone Diffuser

Young Living’s Rainstone™ Diffuser combines state-of-the-art ultrasonic technology and traditional Chinese craftsmanship. It provides a balanced convergence of the grounding element of earth with the enveloping and soothing powers of essential oil-infused mist. Created with an exquisite and rare purple clay found only in a small region of China, each Rainstone Diffuser is handmade using ancient craftsmanship passed down from generation to generation for more than 1,000 years.

This diffuser has a robust feature set. The Lantern Diffuser was released at the 2018 Convention. What started out as functional has evolved to beautiful. This diffuser is a gorgeous compliment to your decor. It is made with exquisite metal and glass details, and has 11 light features, including my favorite candle-flicker mode! It holds 200 mls of water and will run for 5 hours continuously on high mode and 8 hours continuously on low mode. Even better, it will run 10 hours on intermittent mode!

The Best Way to Get Your Own Diffuser
