A Field Trip to the Aquarium

A Field Trip to the Aquarium

What greater way to finish up our study of jellyfish than a trip to the aquarium?!  We teamed up with a local homeschool group for a nice discount to visit an aquarium downtown. I had been hesitant to visit it because the price was a little crazy, but the homeschool group got an amazing deal and there was no way we were going to turn that down!

Aquarium Scavenger Hunt

Before we went, I thought I’d get Clark and Luci a little more engaged by making up a little scavenger hunt for them.  You can download them HERE if you’d like to use them. They come in two levels of difficulty – one for toddlers and one for preschoolers. I found some sea creatures clip art online (the website no longer exists, sorry) and printed them out. I put them in sheet covers, just in case it got wet or messy. The goal was to find each creature and to put a sticker on it.

The aquarium was exciting but quite crowded with all of the homeschool families. We weren’t the only ones enjoying the big discount!

I’d wanted to get pictures, but my focus became a little more on keeping track of my children and I had to just put the camera away.  There were quite a few different animals there, not just fish.

We found everything on our scavenger hunt, but honestly Clark and Luci both lost interest after about the fifth finding and they ended up in my bag. Sometimes it’s better to just enjoy and experience the moment, right?

It was a great day, though.  Of course the favorite exhibit was the MOON JELLYFISH!!!  Clark was still talking about them when I put him to bed tonight.
