I know it's cheating, but I will often delay buying homeschool supplies and other necessities when I know that Christmas is just around the corner. Markers and paints, and paper, and glue make the best stocking stuffers! This year, however, we are already well-stocked with the usual art supplies and educational games, so I went on the hunt for some more unique and creative Christmas gifts for homeschoolers. Oh the things you discover…!  As I’ve been researching homeschooling, I keep coming back to the English educator, Charlotte Mason from the late 1800s and her methods.  Her approach to education rings so true and I strongly believe that it would be extremely effective for my children.  One thing Charlotte Mason stresses is the importance of outdoor nature study with children.  In fact, she suggests 4-6 hours of this every day!  Although this may be too lofty of a goal, several hours once a week for nature study may be more attainable. While researching the different homeschool methods for my children, a friend directed me to the book A Charlotte Mason Companion: by Karen Andreola.  I have been devouring it obsessively for the past couple of weeks. On Fridays, Clark is home from his Preschool, so I have started to incorporate a little homeschooling into our routine.
