Our Best Life

I know that I cannot be the only Mom who worries about how to manage the Halloween aftermath. As we've become much more aware of what we are eating and feeding our children, the thought of my children downing buckets of candy on Halloween night absolutely horrifies me. My children are normally healthy and robust. I am blessed to say that we have not had a sick doctor visit in years. We are intentional about supporting our immune systems naturally. However, a recent experience brought me a reality check. Our family spent the night at a local hotel that housed a water park....

Please tell me I’m not the only one who has always wanted a Himalayan Salt Lamp.  I honestly just love the warm, cozy feeling that comes from the orange glow of the lamp.  I never had any idea that there were actually health benefits to these beautiful lamps, but after a little research, I found enough information to convince me why I not only WANT a Himalayan salt lamp, but NEED one. So first, what is a Himalayan Salt Lamp? It’s simply a chunk of pure Himalayan crystal salt mounted onto a piece of wood with an electric bulb placed inside. Himalayan salt lamps work by...

We are incredibly fortunate to live in a country full of beauty. We live in a country where any road trip can lead to the discovery of undeniable beauty and awe-inspiring views. This summer, we drove to Salt Lake City, Utah for my company’s annual Convention. Never one to miss out on a travel opportunity, I planned a visit to several of Utah’s National Parks while on  the way. Zion National Park We started with some adventure and beauty in Utah's Zion National Park and immediately declared it was our favorite. We didn’t know at the time, but each park that we visited would,...

My hairdresser works out of her own home. She lives out in the country, down a few long, winding roads, lined with farms. As you drive along, horses and cattle come running to the fence to witness the excitement of a vehicle passing. I love the tranquility of that drive. It makes me fantasize of living in the country and each time, I deliberately look around for houses with For Sale signs. As I arrive at my hairdresser’s home, I am greeted by 3 or 4 lazy dogs, who barely recognize that I’ve arrived – they’re too busy basking in the hot...

I get the whole frugality thing - I really do. I love a good deal as much as anybody, but you will never find me clipping coupons. There are a million reasons why I will never be a Coupon Queen! In order to give you a little perspective, I’m going to give you a little glimpse into my younger years. I was raised with 14 brothers and sisters. Need I say more? Obviously it was a one-income family, and even more obviously there was very little money. The lack of money was not something that I was acutely aware of, but I as I...

Kids never get tired of building, do they?  As I was going to bed last night, I tripped over an elaborate arrangement of blankets, toys and chairs in the hallway, which was apparently a gnome village of some sort.  As I peeked into Clark’s room, I see his room completely draped in more sheets and blankets.  I didn’t even dare to go in.  So I go to bed, deeply disturbed about the probable condition of my linen cabinet. I feel like I am constantly navigating construction, circuits, and forts. I find this sort of thing around the house all the time....
