What’s More Interesting? Easter Eggs Or Bugs?

Holidays can often be difficult in our family because of my work schedule.  As a Registered Nurse working in a hospital, I have a requirement to work several Holidays a year. Because of this, our Holidays are rarely on their actual day and they are frequently split up in order to get all of the fun in.  This Easter was one of those Holidays.

Yesterday afternoon, we squeezed in our Easter Egg Hunt before I had to leave for work. I semi-hid some plastic eggs with little surprises in them. What I didn’t expect was the kids to get distracted from pretty Easter Eggs in pursuit of some bugs! I mean, what’s more interesting – Easter eggs or bugs?!

Then, this afternoon, we decided to dye some eggs.  I’m not sure why I have never done this with the kids… but I’m going to be honest – this is not something I’m dying to do again (no pun intended).  It was very successful, and the kids were more interested in the bugs crawling in the yard than the Easter eggs. It could very well be that you get what you pay for.  I got a couple of kits at the Dollar Store and maybe that’s where I went wrong.  Either way, it was messy and not that impressive.

Meanwhile, back at the egg station – it took quite a while for the eggs to take on any color, but the kids were finally able to take the eggs out of the dye.  They were more excited about their little “scoopers” than the new colored eggs.

Have a wonderful Easter!
