20 Sep How to Create a Paper Sloyd Pencil Box
We are excited to share our latest Happy Handicrafts video with you! Our most recent project from our Paper Sloyd series is a pencil box. This series is perfect for any homeschool mom who wants to give her children the broad feast of education, but feels that she cannot teach arts and crafts. My children and I created this video series for those homeschool moms who don’t feel like they are crafty, are short on time, or could just use a little downtime while teaching another student. All you need is Happy Handicrafts – we are crafty, so you don’t have to be! Just open YouTube and we’ll walk your students through how to create a paper sloyd pencil box and many other projects!
When working through our paper sloyd series, I strongly recommend getting the book, Paper Sloyd for Primary Grades by Ednah Anne Rich. The book will prove to be a valuable guide to your student. It provides written instructions and visual cues, all of which are important in learning sloyd.
Gather Your Supplies
The materials needed for this paper sloyd project are very basic.
- 1 sheet of paper or cardstock
- Ruler
- Pencil
- Scissors
- Glue
I know that paper sloyd can be intimidating to start. However, it’s actually an important beginning to any handicraft curriculum for many reasons. I’ve written a more detailed blog post about it titled What is Paper Sloyd? And Why is it a Valuable Tool in Home Education? If you take the time to read this post, I promise you, you will have a new-found admiration for sloyd!
We hope you are enjoying our videos and are finding them to be a help. Remember, if you have any questions or need help along the way, we’re always here for you. Leave us a comment below – we love hearing from our viewers!
