I was looking forward to creating this paper sloyd doll house chair! It looked like it might be a challenge, but I was eager to see the final result and excited at the idea of making doll house furniture with my daughter.. This model is Supplementary Model #6 from the book Paper Sloyd for Primary Grades by Ednah Anne Rich. There are 14 Supplementary Models tucked in the back of this book. They do not come with pictures of how they will look when assembled, there are no instructions, and they have minimal labeling of measurements....

This week’s paper sloyd hexagonal tray project presented a bit of a challenge. It is the 5th model from the 3rd year from the book Paper Sloyd for Primary Grades by Edna Anne Rich. The 3rd year started easily enough but has quickly escalated, introducing us to some new tools and skills. Learning these new skills is exciting and rewarding, but it does take some time and occasionally some frustration to work through. The third year of paper sloyd has introduced the use of a compass. We have found that a compass can possibly be challenging for...

I hope that you've been following our paper sloyd series. My children and I have been working through the book Paper Sloyd for Primary Grades by Ednah Anne Rich. We are making videos of each project and posting them here and on YouTube under the name Happy Handicrafts. This week, for Project #10, we learned how to create a paper sloyd fan. We initially thought that this project would be quite simple, but it proved to be the most challenging yet. Although the instructions and diagram were not difficult, we found that accuracy and attention to detail...

We are excited to share our latest Happy Handicrafts video with you! Our most recent project from our Paper Sloyd series is a pencil box. This series is perfect for any homeschool mom who wants to give her children the broad feast of education, but feels that she cannot teach arts and crafts. My children and I created this video series for those homeschool moms who don't feel like they are crafty, are short on time, or could just use a little downtime while teaching another student. All you need is Happy Handicrafts - we are...

Hello! It's time for us to release the eighth video in our Happy Handicraft Paper Sloyd series. This project is all about how to create a paper sloyd basket with handle. We found it to be a little more labor-intensive than previous projects, but we're here to walk you through each step. Just follow along with the video, pause where you need to, and I think you are going to love the results. My children and I are creating this series for other homeschool families, who could use some help. I know sometimes homeschool moms can be...

In our last blog post, How to Create a Paper Sloyd Bookmark, we showed our most recent Happy Handicraft video in our paper sloyd series. It was a very simple way to create a paper sloyd bookmark. I don't know about you, but in our homeschool, we read a lot of books, and we are always in need of bookmarks. These paper sloyd bookmarks are a lot nicer than the scrap paper I normally grab to save my place in a book! Or the piece of random plastic that I found my daughter using as a bookmark! We really enjoyed making these...
