How to Create a Paper Sloyd Round Frame

Our craft project for today is a paper sloyd round frame. This simple-to-make model is a 5″ circle with the inner opening measuring 2″ across. It’s just the perfect size for a picture of our little hamster, Desirée. We invite you to gather together the following materials and to craft along with us!

Materials Needed

  • The book, Paper Sloyd for Primary Grades by Ednah Anne Rich
  • cutting mat
  • A hole punch
  • A pair of scissors
  • A compass
  • A pencil
  • ruler
  • Glue
  • Quality paper (the book recommends Royal Melton, which is 70 lb paper, which can be compared to Cardstock). We used a scrap piece of thick scrapbook paper.

Happy Handicrafts Video: How to Create a Paper Sloyd Round Frame

How did your paper sloyd round frame turn out? What picture did you choose to put in it? It could be a picture of your pet, like we chose, or of your family, your friends, a special place you’ve been, or anything that brings up a pleasant memory or a smile.

Making useful crafts has always been our family’s favorite thing to do. It’s an activity that we love to do together, one that relaxes us, and one that brings us joy. Now, we want to bring that to you. Together with my two homeschooled children, we have created Happy Handicrafts, a place for you to share our enjoyment of crafts by crafting along with us!

Our Happy Handicraft videos are made with the Homeschooler in mind. We know that not all Homeschooling Mom feel confident with arts and crafts. If that sounds familiar, this is your invitation to try one of our videos. Set your Homeschooler up with the materials needed and the chosen video. We will take over. In fact, set aside one or two 20 minute sessions every week for sloyd. You may be surprised how it transforms your Homeschool!
