08 Feb How to Make a Simple Crocheted Heart Bookmark
As school winds down around a holiday or celebration, my kids can always count on me to have a craft ready. It’s one of my favorite ways to connect with the kids, while getting something useful done. This year, my son carried on this tradition by coming up with his own suggestion for a craft for Valentine’s Day. He chose a simple crocheted heart bookmark.
This bookmark whips up very quickly; I think it would be such a great option as a gift for students, friends, and loved ones, rather than the traditional candy or chocolate.

Materials Needed:
- Crochet Hook Set
- Any Medium Weight Yarn (I used Big Twist Twinkle Yarn in the color Red, which I got at my local craft store.)
- Scissors
- A large bore needle

Here’s the Pattern

- In the Magic Circle, chain 3, triple crochet 3, double crochet 3, chain 1, triple crochet 1, chain 1, double crochet 3, triple crochet 3, chain 3
- Slip stitch into first stitch
- Fasten off and weave in ends
For the tail portion:
- Make a slip knot and single crochet into the bottom of the heart into the triple crochet

If you’ve learned anything from us so far in our crochet series, you know that you can customize all of your crochet projects. We customized this one by making longer and shorter ones to suit larger and smaller books. We simply added a few single crochets to our chain if we had a larger book, and subtracted a few single crochets for a smaller book. It works perfectly!
