17 Sep How to Use Essential Oils for School Work
In our family, essential oils are a part of our everyday lives. We use them for everything imaginable, so it only made sense that when we started to homeschool that we would learn how to use essential oils for school work.
At the time, I knew very little about essential oils and their many benefits, so I simply began diffusing essential oils while we homeschooled because they smelled wonderful.
We would get up and as we ate breakfast, I would diffuse the awakening and invigorating scents of Lemon and Peppermint. It is pretty much impossible to be in a bad mood when you are surrounded in those aromas. It’s just not possible!
Then, as we transitioned to our homeschool work, I naturally choose something calming. I am not a naturally patient person, and my children aren’t either. So we can use all the calming, relaxing influence we can get! I would often just add Lavender to the combination of Lemon and Peppermint.
Eventually, we began to learn more about the essential oils and how they could benefit us. We also learned how we responded to each of them. Clark, for example, found the woodsy, warm aroma of Cedarwood to be especially calming and relaxing when diffused. He also responded wonderfully to the essential oil blend called Surrender. If it was one of those days, that seemed to be a constant struggle for control, I would diffuse this (or apply topically to both of us!). It has a way of quieting negative emotions, bringing about feelings of equilibrium.
When work is especially difficult and Clark is having trouble focusing on the task at hand, I like to diffuse a couple of essential oil blends high in sesqueiterpenes. These oils give the brain a boost and help clarify thought. Brain Power and Clarity are a couple of our choice oils for homeschooling. They promote a clear mind. alertness and if getting drowsy, they can help to restore mental wakefulness.
Essential oils have been a blessing to our homeschool. Even if you don’t homeschool, try incorporating them into homework time. Whether it’s to help manage a task or to help create a pleasant, relaxing atmosphere in the home, they are always inspiring and uplifting.
