The Perot Museum in downtown Dallas, Texas is a public natural history museum.  Since we knew we would be homeschooling this year, we got a yearly membership.  We had been to visit several times, but we are loving the freedom that a membership offers us.  This museum is really big, so there is no way to get in the entire experience in one visit – so a membership seemed a logical place to start! For our next Five in a Row study, we decided to read Miss Rumphius, by Barbara Cooney just as the bluebonnets were blooming here in Texas.  Based on the cover of the book, it seemed the perfect time. Did anybody catch a glimpse of the Super-Star on June 30th? For us homeschoolers, this is a teaching moment; a simple lesson in astronomy. We’ve been studying the children’s book, Miss Rumphius as part of our Five in a Row Curriculum.  Let me just say that if you have not read this to your children yet, get down to the library and get it.  It is an absolute treasure. At this time of the year, there is always a lot of discussion whether to continue to homeschool throughout the summer.  We started to homeschool Clark one year ago, just as he was graduating from his little preschool.  We thought we would work through the summer, see how it went and make a more permanent decision before school started in September.
