Holidays

It’s Super Bowl Week at preschool and We. Are. Not. Super Bowlers.  We don’t have a single team jerseys. I wouldn't know a team mascot if it hit me in the face. I have no clue what color represents each team.  In fact, I don’t even know who is in the Super Bowl this year!  I’ve had to do some quick internet research in order to properly equip my son for all the activities this week at school.  Thankfully, today, was a more simple task of taking a “Super Bowl snack” to share with the class.  Clark loves cupcakes, so we decided on that.  I...

Holidays can often be difficult in our family because of my work schedule.  As a Registered Nurse working in a hospital, I have a requirement to work several Holidays a year. Because of this, our Holidays are rarely on their actual day and they are frequently split up in order to get all of the fun in.  This Easter was one of those Holidays. Yesterday afternoon, we squeezed in our Easter Egg Hunt before I had to leave for work. I semi-hid some plastic eggs with little surprises in them. What I didn't expect was the kids to...

I don’t know when Dr. Seuss’ birthday became a big week-long event at school, but it did and I love it!  I look forward to it all year.  I love to see what dress-up ideas and activities the teachers are going to come up with. This year we will be leaving on our vacation, so we will be missing the majority of the celebration, but we will be there for the “Dress-up-in-your-favorite-Dr. Seuss-character Day”!  This year we decided to be a red fish and a blue fish from the book “One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish.”  I crocheted them hats to...

School is out and we are busy playing, creating memories and developing our first Christmas traditions. I grew up in a family rich in traditions, and although they are important to me, I want to create our own as a new family. Candlefest Christmas was a big deal in my childhood home. My Mom had a gift for making holidays special. On Christmas Eve, we would all work together to create a big feast to celebrate Christmas Eve. Once we had eaten, and my Dad had gathered us all around to read us the Christmas story from the...

It's the Thanksgiving Holidays! Happy Thanksgiving! Clark's preschool is closed this week and I couldn't be happier. It's so nice and relaxing not to have to worry about getting him ready and off to school  No stress in the morning!  The tougher part is keeping them both kids occupied and happy all day while I clean the entire house, get all the laundry done and prepare for family coming in from out of town for the holiday.    Immediately after breakfast, I pulled out my well-hidden play dough.  I reserve it for special occasions, so it keeps...
