We’ve been reading the book The Glorious Flight as part of our Five in a Row curriculum.  This is an awesome curriculum based on classic children’s literature in which you read one book for 5 days in a row.  Each day, you focus on a different subject from the book. We’ve been studying the children’s book, Miss Rumphius as part of our Five in a Row Curriculum.  Let me just say that if you have not read this to your children yet, get down to the library and get it.  It is an absolute treasure. Our favorite part of each row is the art portion.  With each new book we discover new mediums, new ideas, new concepts. As part of our Five in a Row curriculum, we have been studying the book, Miss Rumphius.  It is such a sweet book about a woman who lived a full and wonderful life, and in the end wanted to do something to make the world a more beautiful place.  She did this by planting lupines.  Everywhere.  I loved this because I love lupines! We have been reading Harold and the Purple Crayon as part of our Five in a Row curriculum.  In this book, Harold goes on an adventure in the middle of the night with his purple crayon, drawing whatever and wherever his imagination leads.  In the very beginning, he realized he needed light and so he drew a moon to light his way.
