My biggest challenge and focus right now as a homeschooling Mom is instilling in my children a love of reading.  I know that a love of reading is the basis of all lifelong, independent learning, but how is this accomplished?  How do I, as a parent, develop this essential trait in my children? I had had plans to start rowing with FIAR, Volume 1, but as this week approached, I kept thinking of this book.  I fondly remembered it from my childhood.  My father used to read us Beatrix Potter's books as bedtime stories.  Being as there are little rabbits running around our yard right now, and since it is gardening season here, I decided to go straight tol Volume 2 and start by rowing The Tale of Peter Rabbit. It's Banana Swirl! We have started rowing The Tale of Peter Rabbit this week (and probably the next), so I wanted to do some gardening with Clark and Luci.  The incredible irony of this is that I. CANNOT. GROW. ANYTHING.  In fact, I'm really amazed that my children are growing so well!  At one point, I wanted a plant so bad that I bought a cactus. Would you believe I actually killed that too?! It took seventeen days for all of our butterflies to emerge from their chrysalides.  No matter how many times you see this transformation, it remains fascinating and magical.  Although I would have liked to keep our butterflies for a couple of days, but they were somewhat lethargic, so I was worried that they needed to be set free into their natural environment. Every once in a while you stumble upon this incredible idea, which is so great in it's simplicity that you seriously wonder why you never thought of it yourself.  This is one of those ideas.  It's not mine.  I came across it while spending my time wisely on Pinterest.   If you have kids, I know you've had this happen.  The kids want to play with bubbles, so you send them outside to play.  I would usually set the bubble container on a table or on the pavement and tell the kids to be careful not to spill it.  Like clockwork, not 30 seconds later, I hear...
