Math is not Clark's favorite subject.  It wasn't mine either, so I get it. It's always a bit of a struggle to stay focused.  Clark has a very creative brain and, like me, he needs a creative outlet.  Math is just the wrong side of the brain for that!  So in order for him to get engaged in his math lesson we've got to find ways incorporate creativity into the math. Simply put, we've got to learn how to have fun with math! The other day, our math lesson involved money.  Clark had been asking me if we could play...

What kid doesn't love a picnic, right? For Clark's birthday yesterday, my kids wanted a picnic - but with bugs. Everything is about bugs right now. So, I made them this cute little lunch scene with snails and toadstools and even included a couple of plastic bugs. It doesn't take much to make these kids happy! Just some fun and simple picnic foods! First of all, apparently Cheetos are essential to birthdays.  So they are included, of course. The little toadstools are made from grape tomatoes (cherry tomatoes may be better but weren't available) cut in...

Happy Birthday Clark! Clark just turned 5 years old and we had a wonderful day full of fun and family!  Not to make this all about me, but I always get a little emotional on Clark's birthday because it is always a sweet reminder of how I became a Mother.  My pregnancy was a nightmare and Clark was born 7 weeks early.  He spend the first several weeks of his life in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.  Those days were very, very difficult but so special.  I sat in the NICU every day, holding and loving him, both of us healing together. ...

No! Not a real snai!. You'll never find a post for "How to Eat a Real Snail" on this blog. I promise. This post is "How to Eat a Cinnamon Roll Snail with Marshmallows." That sounds a lot better, doesn't it? Clark's fifth birthday is tomorrow, so this week we have been gearing up for the celebration!  At our preschool it is customary for the parents to bring a special snack for the class on their child's birthday.  I'm terrible, but I don't generally get involved in such things, but Clark is now at an age where...

It’s Super Bowl Week at preschool and We. Are. Not. Super Bowlers.  We don’t have a single team jerseys. I wouldn't know a team mascot if it hit me in the face. I have no clue what color represents each team.  In fact, I don’t even know who is in the Super Bowl this year!  I’ve had to do some quick internet research in order to properly equip my son for all the activities this week at school.  Thankfully, today, was a more simple task of taking a “Super Bowl snack” to share with the class.  Clark loves cupcakes, so we decided on that.  I...
